Participated in WIND EXPO 2015

WIND EXPO 2015 was held in Tokyo Big Sight from February 25th to 27th in 2015. According to the organizer, 71,623 people visited the venue in three days.

Fukushima offshore wind consortium participated in the EXPO not only to introduce the world's first offshore floating wind farm demonstration project broadly to people in and out of Japan but also to exchange information with people involving wind power. This WIND EXPO held offshore wind power zone where many power companies, wind farm manufactures and components manufacturers exhibited to show the latest information of offshore wind power. Approximately 7,400 people visited the exhibition booth of the Fukushima offshore wind consortium in 3 days.

At the booth of the Fukushima offshore wind consortium, a large display showed movies of the floating offshore wind farm, the construction record of the first phase of the demonstration project and the power generation of the 2MW wind turbine. In addition, a scale model of the semi-sub floater with 2MW downwind turbine and panels were displayed. Many visitors expressed their expectations to the progress and completion of 7MW wind turbine and their interest in the practical use of 2MW wind turbine, whose operation rate is higher than 40 percent in winter. High expectations to this project were felt through voices of visitors.

During the exhibition period, Mr. Fukuda, who is a general manager of Marubeni, and a project integrator of this consortium, gave a lecture titled “the summary of Fukushima Floating Offshore Wind Project and its development in Japan”.

He introduced the research results of the first phase and its development in the future, which got great reaction from the audience.
