Participated in the 8th RENEWABLE ENERGY 2013 EXHIBITION

"The 8th Renewable Energy 2013 Exhibition" was held in Tokyo Big Site from July 24th to 26th in 2013. According to the organizer, 45,000 people visited the venue in 3 days.

Fukushima offshore wind consortium participated in the exhibition to conduct the public relations on the world's first offshore floating wind farm demonstration project, and to exchange information with the people in wind energy industry. Approximately 5,000 people visited the exhibition booth of the Fukushima offshore wind consortium in three days including the VIPs such as Mr. Kazuhide Sugawara the Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Yuhei Sato the Governenr of Fukushima, and Mr. Hoob den Royen the head of offshore wind farm department of the British Crown Estate.

At the booth of the Fukushima offshore wind consortium, a large display showed the animation of the total image of the floating offshore wind farm. In addition, scale models of the semi-sub floater for 2MW downwind turbine and the sub-station attracted the attention of the public. Panels were displayed to explain research topics of the project and to show how the semi-sub floater for 2MW turbine, the sub-station and the undersea cable are installed. These displays showed the construction of the world’s first offshore floating wind farm project was making progress toward the commissioning in October.

During the exhibition period, an international forum was also held, and, in a special program "Demonstration research projects of offshore wind power in Japan," Professor Takeshi Ishihara of the University of Tokyo and other members of the Fukushima offshore wind consortium such as Mr. Akihiko Kita of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, Mr. Yuji Awashima of JMU, Mr. Shigeru Fujii of Furukawa Electric gave lectures on the floating offshore wind farm demonstration project.
